A little about me...

My name is Christa and I am the designer, maker, marketer, packager, shipper and everything else in between at Clay Dust Studio!

I currently reside in NE Ohio and work out of my kitchen converted studio in a 350sqft. efficiency apartment (tiny living!). My wheel and wedging table are my main tools, but my little Skutt kiln is the most important tool I have! I can only make a limited amount of pieces per restock due to kiln size and the time it takes to meticulously make each piece, so my work is made in relatively small batches.

By supporting my little shop you are helping me achieve my dream of one day owning my own home where I can have room for my studio and a space for my kiln in a garage. I cannot thank you enough for your support in helping me achieve these dreams!

I first learned about clay in high school from my mentor, Sarah Costic. She taught me the basics of ceramics and I began throwing on the potters wheel in 2008. Through college I had only been practicing ceramics as a side hobby, until early 2015 I decided to turn my passion for clay into a career. I spent 2015-2019 pursuing a degree in Ceramic Arts and graduated from Kent State University in 2019 earning my BFA with a concentration in Ceramics and a minor in Art History. During my time in college, I learned invaluable information about clay, glaze, and kiln firing while meeting many amazing artists in the ceramics community along the way. I am now using those skills learned over the past decade to bring meaningful pottery into the world. To contrast the mass produced products we are often surrounded by, my goal is to share the beauty and importance of unique handmade art in our lives and homes. I hope you find something here that inspires you and brings joy into your space. Thank you for visiting!
